Randy Knechtel is the founding and Lead Pastor of VIVE Church in Columbia, South Carolina. Randy is a gifted communicator and teacher driven by his desire to introduce people to the life-changing message of Jesus.

Randy & Robin along with an awesome staff and a dedicated leadership team are committed to make  VIVE Church a vibrant new church with a refreshing application of faith and culture.

We are Attractional: Utilizing our location, facility, technology, resources and creativity we will develop a message and programs that connect with people and assists in connecting them with God.

We are Relational: We are intentional about connecting with people in genuine life-giving relationships, where a sense of community, a place to belong permeates every gathering. The goal is a biblical fellowship where each person feels valued and cared for.

We are Missional: by understanding our culture and connecting with people who need Jesus. We don’t wait for them to come, we “GO” to where the people are. We lay aside the trappings of our subculture group of Christianity and we “incarnate culture” we “learn so that we can lead”.  In one closed hand, we hold the unchanging truths of our theology and on the other open hand, we hold the many cultural ways of showing and speaking Christian truth.

Our Name

The Name "VIVE" is a Latin word which means "to live"   Jesus said "I came so that everyone would have life, and have it in its fullest"

When you visit one of our VIVE campuses you will experience the excitement and energy of people who have been brought to life!

Our purpose is to "Bring People to Life"

Everything we do at VIVE is motivated by this.

Every week Pastor Randy shares a challenge to "Bring People To Life".  This can be done by simply serving someone in need, showing kindness to a stranger, helping someone discover a relationship with God, praying for a miracle to take place in someone's life...  We are the hands, feet, heart, and voice of Jesus to a world full of people that are looking for something to bring meaning and purpose in their lives.

Core Values

Our 5 core values at VIVE are:

Relationships are vital for any family or Church to function properly, but relationships are difficult and take work. One thing that helps in building strong relationships is knowing you belong, you have a place, and other people are depending on you.

When you visit one of our VIVE campuses you will experience the warmth of acceptance no matter what you have done or who you are. We will take you just the way you are.

At VIVE we realize that what we believe about God can greatly influence our actions. God has gone to great lengths to reveal Himself to us. His word the Bible is our "standard" of truth.

When you visit one of our VIVE campuses you will experience a biblically based message that is very practical, inspirational and Christ-centered.

Every week we give an invitation in our services for people to begin following Christ and almost every week people respond.

“I thank God for putting Maggie in my life to introduce me to VIVE Church and helping me find God in my life again. I look forward to making VIVE our church and being as involved as possible. See you on Sunday!”

There is no shortage of people who need Christ just a shortage of people willing to bring Christ to them. That is why we launched Vive Church.

Our purpose is clear: At VIVE we are “Bringing People to Life”.

You were saved to serve God.

It is he who saved us and chose us for his holy work not because we deserved it but because that was his plan. 2 Timothy 1:9 (LB)
God redeemed you so you could do his "holy work." You're not saved by service, (the things you do for God) but you are saved for service (to do things for God). In God's kingdom, you have a place, a purpose, a role, and a function to fulfill. This is what brings us to life!
It cost Jesus his own life to purchase your salvation. The Bible reminds us, "God paid a great price for you. So use your body to honor God." (1 Corinthians 6:20 CEV)
We don't serve God out of guilt or fear or even duty, but out of joy, and deep gratitude for what he's done for us. We owe him our lives. Through Christ our past has been forgiven, our present is given meaning, and our future is secured. The Bible says:  "Because of God's great mercy . . . Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his service." (Romans 12:1 TEV)
John, one of Jesus' 12 disciples,  taught that our loving service to others shows that we are truly following Jesus. He said, "Our love for each other proves that we have gone from death to life." (1 John 3:14 CEV)
So if I have no love for others, no desire to serve others, and I'm only concerned about my needs, I should question whether Christ is really in my life.
A person who is following Jesus is one that wants to serve.

Our Beliefs

We believe that the Bible is God’s Word. It is accurate, authoritative and applicable to our everyday lives.

II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:20-21; Proverbs 30:5; Romans 16:25-26

We believe in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is totally loving and completely holy.

I John 5:7; Genesis 1:26; Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19; Luke 1:35; Isaiah 9:6; Hebrews 3:7-11

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ as both 100% God and 100% man is the only One who can reconcile us to God. He was born of a Virgin, He lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross in our place, and rose again to prove His victory and empower us for life.

John 1:1,14, 20:28; I Timothy 3:16; Isaiah 9:6; Philippians 2:5-6; I Timothy 2:5, Matthew 1:18, 25; Luke 1:35; Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18, 23-25; Luke 1:27-35

We believe that sin has separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives.

Genesis 1:26-31, Romans 3:23

We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and the ‘new birth’ we must repent of our sins, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and submit to His will for our lives.

Ephesians 2:8-9; Galatians 2:16, 3:8; Titus 3:5; Romans 10:9-10; Acts 16:31; Hebrews 9:22, Acts 2:21, 3:19; I John 1:9

We believe that in order to live the holy and fruitful lives that God intends for us, we need to yield to God’s Word and His Spirit in order to complete the development of Christ’s character in us. It is through the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God that the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

I Thessalonians 4:3, 5:23; II Corinthians 3:18, 6:14-18, II Thessalonians 2:1-3, Romans 8:29, 12:1-2, Hebrews 2:11

We believe in Water Baptism and that every new convert is instructed by the Word of God to be baptized in water in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38

We believe that the Lord’s Supper is a unique time of communion in the presence of God when the elements of bread and grape juice (the Body and Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ) are taken in remembrance of Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross.

Matthew 26:26-29; Mark 16:16; Acts 8:12, 36-38; 10:47-48; I Corinthians 10:16, 11:23-25

We believe that God wants to heal and transform us so that we can live healthy and prosperous lives in order to help others more effectively.

Psalm 103:2-3; Isaiah 53:5; Matthew 8:16-17; Mark 16:17-18; Acts 8:6-7; James 5:14-16; I Corinthians 12:9, 28; Romans 11:29, John 3:3-11; II Corinthians 5:17-21; Romans 10:9-10, II Timothy 1:7, 2:11; Philippians 4:7-8; Romans 12:2; Isaiah 26:3, Isaiah 53:4,5; Matthew 8:17; I Peter 2:24, Joshua 1:8; Malachi 3:10-11; Luke 6:38; II Corinthians 9:6-10; Deuteronomy 28:1-14; Psalm 34:10, 84:11; Philippians 4:19

We believe that God has individually equipped us so that we can successfully achieve His purpose for our lives which is to worship God, fulfill our role in the Church and serve the community in which we live.

Acts 20:24, Phil. 3:13-14, 1 Peter 4:10, 1 Cor. 12:7, Eph. 4:11, 13-14

We believe that our eternal destination of either Heaven or hell is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Matthew 5:3, 12, 20, 6:20, 19:21, 25:34; John 17:24; II Corinthians 5:1; Hebrews 11:16; I Peter 1:4, Matthew 25:41; Mark 9:43-48; Hebrews 9:27; Revelation 14:9-11, 20:12-15, 21:8

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming back again as He promised.

Matthew 24:30, 26:63-64; Acts 1:9-11; I Thessalonians 4:15-17; II Thessalonians 1:7-8; Revelation 1:7
